Owner’s Testimonial
It’s hard to express just how much boating in the Pacific Northwest and being a member of the NWE family have enriched our lives. We were long time sailors, but knew nothing about power boats. Then one summer we chartered from NWE and as they say, “the rest is history”. Owning a Grand Banks became our dream. Even though we weren’t ready to buy at that point, we started talking about possibilities with Brian and Scott. We were truly impressed with the amount of time they spent over the next few years educating us about the joys and costs of boat ownership – all with no pressure – just sharing their love of boating and of Grand Banks trawlers.
In the meantime, we continued to charter, take lessons (including the Women Only course), and participate in Mother Goose trips. Every event was fantastic. Moreover, we learned an incredible amount from everyone: the ins-and-outs of anchoring, navigating, radio etiquette… from Brian; how to choose and finance a boat from Scott; boat maintenance basics from David; interacting gently with the environment from Emmelina. For us, the complex process of operating and maintaining a boat was becoming manageable through the experienced, patient guidance of NWE.
About a year ago, we finally found our boat, and NWE’s assistance kicked into high gear. In addition to continuing input from Brian and Scott, Alison provided background and local professional contacts to help with legal, tax, and insurance issues. El provisioned the galley and cabins to suit our tastes while keeping easy care and charterers’ needs in mind. And David’s general advice became specific to our boat, not only for maintenance, but also for customizing the boat to our needs – his solution for an anchoring problem comes first to mind.
We live in Connecticut yet keep our boat with NW Explorations. This is partly because we love cruising the northwest. But even more, it is because we know that we and our boat are in the best hands each day of the year. We are now passionate members of the NWE family as we continue to develop our skills and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Grand Banks lovers. Whether your interest is in chartering or owning, you will be warmly welcomed into this family, too, and there will be great fun every step of the way. The journey is everything!”
