Power Boat Training

The Power Boat Training Course was developed due to the overwhelming requests by clients who wanted to be more proficient at powerboat operations or to become qualified to skipper their own charter boat.
Some of the skills which will be covered include twin engine maneuvering, picking up a mooring buoy, anchoring, basic navigation, route planning, VHF radio communication, emergency procedures, diesel engine basics, line handling, power management, and ships systems.
A recent survey by BoatUS indicated that many women believed there weren't enough boating educational opportunities tailored for them specifically. They prefer to learn in more relaxed settings, perhaps away from a well-meaning spouse. Many of our clients concurred, so to meet that demand, NW Explorations developed "Woman's Only" sessions taught by Captain Paulette Bergh. While the course is substantive, the atmosphere is relaxed and we have fun!

Inside Passage Seminar
March 15 - 16, 2008
NW Explorations, in collaboration with InsidePassageNews.com, is offering this two-day training for any boaters interested in making the famed journey to Alaska through the Inside Passage. Experts will share their intimate local knowledge of British Columbia and Southeast Alaska. Brian Pemberton, NW Explorations owner, will share experiences and tips he's learned from his many cruises to Alaska, the first of which was in 1967. Past participants of the seminar hosted by Don and Réanne Douglass of InsidePassageNews.com, have included attendees who came from seven states and British Columbia. Boat sizes of participants represented ranged from 22 ft. go-fast speedboats to 90 ft. yachts. NW Explorations is excited to be working with InsidePassageNews.com in 2008 to host this event.
