Mother Goose crews gathered early this morning on the sea plane dock to give hugs and wave farewell to our friends Grace and Lisa departing from Grand Adventure. We were all delighted by their company and glad they were able to make even a short stint of the flotilla. Fair winds and calm seas, Lisa and Grace! After a hearty breakfast at Sally’s Café, cooked by Sally herself, a number of our crew rugged up in rain gear for a fishing charter with local guide Brain. An all-around outdoorsman, Brian went from running cattle in midwest Canada to landing catches out in the Pacific and luckily had an opening to guide our crew. Our intrepid fisherpeople came home with a haul of black cod and rockfish in tow!
The rest of us enjoyed the afternoon on land. Some crews took advantage of the marina’s wifi and laundry service. Marc and Marnie enjoyed several hikes around Leiner River, in which we sang bear songs and examined the plentiful moss, lichens and fungus of the forest. Meg, Matt, Tim and Fiona from Patos regaled Deception’s crew with Australian tales and vegemite recipes over a delicious dinner. That evening the marina hosted a lovely celebration of life for Cathy Falavolito, a wonderful woman and much missed part of Tahsis. A huge debt of gratitude to both John and Cathy Falavolito, their years of hard work have made visiting Tahsis the special experience that it is.
