Mother Goose 2019: Leg 8: Day 16: Theodosia Inlet to Pender Harbour

Mechanic Andy reported a star-filled sky last night with satellites, shooting stars, and the glow of the Milky Way galaxy clearly visible.  Theodosia Inlet was delightful, almost like being back in wilderness of Northern B.C. again!

After more than two weeks at sea, the crews of all the boats were sharp.  At one point all six boats were pulling their anchors simultaneously in a scene of purposeful competence.  It was a very impressive showing for mariners that first set foot on these vessels less than a month ago.

Another big blue-sky day rose in front of us as we sailed south past Savary Island and Texada Island.  The wind was negligible and the seas were calm, so most of the boats ran at least part of the day up in the open air on the flybridge.  Sunbathers appeared on all the appropriate decks.  Despite returning to civilization, we still managed to find a feeding humpback whale today to spice up the passage.

By two o’clock we had all found nice anchorage in Pender Harbor.  Dinghies were launched and everybody went ashore in service of a dinner off the boat.  Maybe getting back to civilization isn’t so bad after all!
