The Sunshine Coast is living up to its name! We have had such beautiful weather and are thoroughly enjoying it! In this part of BC, the water can get up to 75 degrees in some places during the summer. This is because of the sun and currents. The water from the north of Vancouver Island moves south when the tide is flooding and the water from the south moves north meeting in desolation sound. This causes the water here to get trapped compared to other areas and it warms up in the summer sun.
Arriving in Madeira offered a chance to get some provisions which relieved everyone who had not rationed their beer well. We all took a trip to town for ice cream and provisions before heading up to the grasshopper pub for a dinner with a view. There was a beautiful sunset this evening and on our dinghy ride back to the boats a quarter moon shone above our boats.
