Leaving Aaltanhash the peaking blue skies seem to be a bit of a tease these days as the passing cloud covers stay steadily present. Yet, it’s pretty incredible to watch them wrap around the mountain tops and whisp their way through the tree lines as their density settles.
On our way out of Princess Royal Channel we made a stop by Butedale, the ghost town of British Columbia, to check out the remaining buildings still standing from their early 1900’s operations and took turns taking crew photos in front of a picturesque waterfall. After a short cruise we pull into Bishops Bay, settled Deception into her spot, called in the raft, and hunkered down for the night, excited to spend a whole day here in Bishops Bay tomorrow…but that doesn’t mean we passed up the hot springs tonight 😉
Waking to a glassy bay we were all struck by an incredibly low-profile rainbow that made sipping our coffee and waking up slow a very sweet treat.
With a low-key day, we enjoyed the calm bay and ventured the shorelines by dinghy rides, kayaks, and even by a brave paddle boarder!
The vivid scenery in Bishop’s Bay made for a lovely afternoon, taking it all in and watching our surroundings change with the tides. Before we knew it, we all checked our watches and it was time to prepare for our fleet BBQ!
Crews brought their own goodies to grill or enjoyed the grill snacks and fixings that Deception offered for the evening, clinking glasses and sharing laughs throughout the evening was a hit!
It was incredible to see everyone in one place and to get the sun shining down around us for our time together. After dinners were finished and drinks emptied, everyone settled into their own spaces and even made a final run to the hot springs before we say goodbye to Bishops Bay.
It’s so fun getting to know our fleet family better and spending such quality time alongside them all. Thank you all for your time and presence with our activities, this trip and all its beauty would not be possible without you.
Captain Annie grilled burgers and served them on boatmade sourdough rolls. This crew knows no limits! A deliciously fun evening.
