We had our first lay day in Wrangell today. The sun came out early today and we woke up to a beautiful blue bird sky day. On lay days we remain at the dock, don’t transit and everyone gets to enjoy the town. The crews on leg 4 seemed to have a great day today.

Some crews went for a hike up Mt. Dewey to get a great view of the town and the surrounding islands.

Other crews went to the nearby Petroglyph State Park where you can see ancient carvings on large rocks on the beaches.

Some others checked out the town, the local museum, and the replica Tlingit cedar longhouse and several real totem poles on Shakes Island. Wherever folks went it seemed like a very nice day to take in more of the sights and culture of Wrangell. Although everyone has loved their time here, we’re excited to get out on the water again tomorrow and keep heading south!
