We were off the dock at 9am, earlier than scheduled. We said goodbye to the Harbourmaster and thanked him for the hospitality. Generators were humming and coffee and tea was flowing as we hugged the rocky BC shoreline leaving Prince Rupert. Brightly coloured shiipping containers that travel along the Canadian Railway were in full view. They are delivered by freighter and shipped across the country. Prince Rupert is the western end of the National Railway. Canada relies on the railway for the transportation of goods across roughly 6,500km from West to East coast.

Canada has a population that will fit into the state of California. A large land mass with a small population.

Two Dall’s porpoises traveled alongside Deception. The water was calm and the five hour adventure to Newcombe Harbour began. A beautiful run.

Australians from Arctic Star caught their first rockfish.

Four boats rafted together and two were on their own at anchor. Most went for dinghy rides upon arrival and a few tempted the rapids created by the rising and falling tides. Eagles were spotted along the way.

It was a memorable day and a beautiful night for all.
