Day eight brought another stretch of exceptional weather and some of the most dramatic scenery we’ve experienced yet. As we departed Foot Island and cruised north, we were treated to frequent humpback sightings, with the majestic giants surfacing against a backdrop of still waters and blue skies.

The landscape began to shift as we had our first glimpses of icebergs, floating reminders of the vast glacial forces that have shaped this region. Along the way, we passed Humdum Mountain and its accompanying glacier, a striking presence that hinted at the grandeur still ahead.

The most thrilling part of the day came with our approach to the infamous Fords Terror rapids. Timing was everything, and thanks to careful planning and skilled navigation, our flotilla passed through smoothly. What awaited on the other side was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Fords Terror greeted us with towering cliffs, thundering waterfalls, and an almost cathedral-like stillness. It felt like entering a hidden realm carved by ice and time. Later, we led a dinghy tour to one of the many waterfalls, guiding guests into a narrow slot canyon, where sheer cliffs rose dramatically on either side—a perfect setting for photos, wonder, and a reminder of nature’s scale.
