After a stunning and peaceful overnight in Fords Terror, we said our goodbyes to the towering granite cliffs and waterfalls that had surrounded us like a cathedral of stone. Timing our departure with the slack tide, we made a smooth exit through the infamous narrows—our group proving once again that with teamwork and timing, even the most daunting waters can be tamed.

Our cruise to Cannery Cove spanned approximately 58 nautical miles and offered ample time to soak in the scenery. Humpbacks made frequent appearances, their flukes and spouts dotting the horizon. Closer to the cove, we were greeted by the welcome sight of sea otters lounging and the occasional bear meandering along the shoreline.

As we rounded the final bend, the clouds began to part, and sunlight poured down onto the anchorage, revealing the majestic mountain backdrop that towers over Cannery Cove. It was one of those moments that make every mile worthwhile—a postcard scene brought to life.

With the evening sun casting a golden hue on the water, guests settled into a peaceful evening of reflection, photography, and quiet appreciation of Alaska’s untamed beauty.
