2025 Inside Passage Flotilla North – Day 13 Pruth Bay Lay Day

Day thirteen gave us the chance to slow down and take in all that Pruth Bay has to offer, and it did not disappoint. The day began with a guided tour of the Hakai Institute, where guests explored the impressive research facilities and learned about the institute’s mission to study coastal ecosystems and climate change. The tour included a walk through the lodge, which featured a stunning collection of Indigenous art, as well as the preserved skeletons of a juvenile humpback whale and a sea otter; a sobering yet fascinating glimpse into the marine life of the region.

Following the tour, we set out on foot for a refreshing walk to West Beach. The path opened onto a wide stretch of white sand, where the ocean breeze rolled in crisp and cool. Most guests continued onward to a lookout point, where the reward was a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding coastline, islands, and open Pacific; an incredible perspective of the remote wilderness we’ve been traveling through.

To cap off the day, the crew of Bonum Vitae graciously hosted a group dinner aboard. Chuck treated everyone to his signature beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection and served alongside a generous spread of appetizers and desserts brought by fellow guests. It was a warm, joyful evening filled with laughter, stories, and a deepening sense of community.

As the sun set over Pruth Bay, it was clear that this lay day had given us more than just rest; it gave us time to connect—with nature, with each other, and with the journey we’re on.
