Day seven began with an early morning departure, perfectly timed to take advantage of the calmest possible conditions in the Strait of Georgia. The strategy paid off. Flat seas, minimal boat traffic, and gentle skies made for a smooth and peaceful crossing back toward Vancouver Island.

The flotilla set a steady course for Nanaimo, returning to city waters after several days spent anchored in remote coves and quiet inlets. The approach was smooth, and by early afternoon, all vessels were tied up safely in the harbor.

Nanaimo marked a welcome return to modern conveniences; a chance to re-provision with fresh food and drink, take care of laundry, and stock up for the final stretch of the journey. Crews took advantage of the time ashore, running errands, enjoying hot showers, and grabbing a bite to eat in town.

As evening settled over the harbor, the group began to wind down aboard their boats, preparing for another early morning departure and the homeward journey ahead. Though the comforts of Nanaimo were appreciated, there was already a growing sense of nostalgia for the quiet waters and remote beauty we’ve been so privileged to explore.
