Ajax was first to spot the plump and glossy black bear who came to keep an eye on us and sample the fresh grasses growing the water’s edge around sunset. He came and went in and out of the trees at a relaxed and unhurried pace, occastionally settling on his haunches to thoughtfully chew some grass and enjoy the evening. What a treat for us to sit in deck chairs on the stern and take in the magnificence!
Just about desert time, our ursine friend ambled down to the head of the cove and found an especially succulent patch of grass to sample. While he bent to his work a brilliant and huge full moon rose over the ridge above him.
