NW Explorations Team gets New Blood and Great Exposure

At NW Explorations, we have just provisioned ourselves with exceptional new team members. And we couldn’t be happier. These individuals, like everyone else at NW Explorations bring vast expertise, dedicated customer service and oceans of love for everything nautical. As much as NW Explorations is about our yachts, we also invest in the folks who truly are the hull of our company: our staff.

Together, the NW Explorations team adeptly attends to all of a client’s needs, including mechanical upkeep, brokerage expertise, educational insight, guiding, housekeeping, customer service, ensuring you’ll have an exceptional voyage with a multitude of memorable experiences.

From marine technicians to dockhands, brokers and parts managers, controllers and service specialists, we have every aspect of the business covered thanks to the people we hire. NW Explorations is not however, content with simply achieving. We strive for going above and beyond. We truly seek the people who can help us achieve that – or more.

Our New Additions

John Kurtz, the parts person we just hired has yachts in his blood. John grew up with boats, and his father later owned a marine and RV dealership.

Ryan Downs joined us in 2018 as a Marine Technician. He began working on 18th century replica wooden ships, but also worked as a Captain and guide in Alaska, the San Juans and Gulf Islands for six years.

Andy Novak is another recently hired marine technician who came to Washington to attend the Marine Maintenance program at Skagit Valley College’s Technical Institute. He spent the past 3 years getting down and dirty with diesel and gas marine engines in the Bellingham area.

Patti Brown has come aboard as our new Charter Fleet Service Specialist. She’s also a marine cuisine specialist. Patti owns and runs Galley Girls, a local provisioning company for pleasure vessels that has partnered with NWE for all our training provisioning and individual yacht provisioning.

We’ve added a slew of other things, including our Yacht Management Department. For clients, that means personalized service, robust end-to-end caretaking and devotion to ensuring every client has fulfilling experiences.

Because of our exceptionally high standards in the people we hire, the company has earned quite a reputation. So much so, that we’ve been profiled twice in recent months in Northwest Yachting. In his article “Flotilla Freedom,” Managing Editor Norris Comer, speaks to his spectacular experience aboard a NW Explorations Alaska flotilla, voyaging 736 miles across two international borders and the coastal wilderness including Alaska’s Tongass National Forest and British Columbia’s Fjordlands Conservancy. And just last month, Comer spoke with our own Jen Haaland in his “Ask the Experts” article, as she spoke avidly about her role as a senior technician and discussed everything from sustainable energy to inverters and alternators.

This trip of a lifetime in the naturally abundant Pacific Northwest is nothing short of jaw-dropping, rejuvenating and a direct connection to Mother Nature. It’s typical of a voyage with NW Explorations, bringing unparalleled close-up experiences with the natural world via a beautiful, comfortable yacht.
