What are the courses like?

Knowing the ins and outs of operating a power boat is critical when you charter or own your own vessel. Our highly qualified instructors provide students with thorough hands-on instruction on topics like maneuvering, anchoring, navigation and systems. The thrill of gaining expertise in captaining your own vessel and the practical hands-on skills to charter your own yacht are immeasurable. Our NWE skippers make the courses and workshops accessible, practical engaging and fun, so that every student leaves empowered and capable.

Whether you’re a group, solo or a couple, a beginner, a seasoned boater wanting to acquire new skills,  wanting to brush up on your boat-handling skills or maybe you want to be a technician or educator, these workshops provide the ideal format for learning from some of the most knowledgeable and friendly instructors in the business.

The multi-day courses will also provide leisure time/evenings to explore around the marina and shops, as well as socialize with fellow students. Participants will gain invaluable confidence in a safe and supportive environment, and enjoy a getaway on the multi-day courses. New friendships may develop with like-minded mariners in the course, providing a fantastic way to expand connections within the boating community and open up the potential for future group excursions.

Women have a unique opportunity to advance or acquire their skills in the company of other females on our 3-Day Women’s Only powerboat training course. According to a survey by BoatUS, many women believe there are insufficient boating lessons tailored to suit them. We have always promoted boating as an activity for everyone regardless of age, gender, race or abilities.

The small group encourages women to build their yachting skills and confidence, while meeting new friends all in a welcoming and relaxed environment. It’s also a 3-day mini-vacation at sea as the training we provide the hands-on course in Bellingham Bay.

Already have a charter boat booked with us later in the 2019 season? Take a 1-Day Training Course for a brush-up on your skills and the team will make every attempt to place you on the boat for which you’re booked so you can familiarize yourself with its nuances.
